Of course, there are certain chemicals used according to the pool’s maintenance and repair instructions. However, one of the most important roles in pool cleaning belongs to the pool pump, which we will explain shortly.

If a pool does not have a pump, the pool will become dirty again shortly after being filled with water. Bacteria and germs will accumulate in the water, and the pool will become quite dirty in a short time. One of the main reasons for this is the absence of a pool pump.
A pool pump is needed to clean dirt, insects, mosquitoes, and bacteria that accumulate in the pool and to help chemicals spread more effectively to fight germs. In short, a pool pump is the name given to the pumps that provide circulation within the pool. It draws water in and cleans it from unwanted substances such as insects, mosquitoes, and leaves through filters located at the intake, keeping the water clean. Thanks to the pool pump, water is constantly circulated, and the pool chemicals used against bacteria are evenly distributed. It also ensures the even distribution of chlorine, one of the essential substances in a pool. We can say that the pool pump is the heart of the pool mechanism.
Working Principle of a Pool Pump
Let’s briefly explain the working principle of a pool pump. The pump system has an electric motor. This electric motor rotates like a propeller inside the pump body. This propeller moves water through various channels and the filter, providing circulation and returning the water to the pool inlets. The pool pump sends water to the filter, where foreign substances are collected. Thus, the pool pump circulates water, performing the cleaning, filtering, and purifying functions mentioned above. It allows all dirt and bacteria to be removed from the water.
What to Consider When Using a Pool Pump
Pool pump prices vary depending on the type of pump you purchase. There are several points to consider during its use. First, ensure that the suction and discharge powers of the pool pump are compatible with the filter capacity. The area where the pump is positioned should be completely free from moisture. Additionally, the motor section must be protected to be water-resistant, because in a pool environment, it is always uncertain where water may come from. The height of the pump must be planned according to pool conditions.
Another important point is related to the pump motor. If the pump motor takes in water or the propeller is not positioned properly, the pool pump may burn out. Therefore, the positioning of the pool pump and motor is crucial. Especially in summer, giving the pump a maximum of 2 hours of rest for every 12 hours of operation can be beneficial for the pump’s lifespan.
