Masdaf General Manager Vahdettin YIRTMAÇ: “With the “innovative and IoT pump technologies”, we aim to provide energy saving to our business partners’ establishments. At the same time, by monitoring the customer experiences with IoT, we aim to develop our pump technologies and therefore increase the life quality of our customers and to increase the operational efficiency of the establishment.”
The leading brand of pump sector Masdaf continues its activities regarding the “efficient use of energy”. With the effective and smart pump technologies it has developed, it provides saving up to 30%.
Highlighting that approximately 35% of the energy consumed in the world is consumed in buildings and 20% of the energy is consumed in industrial facilities, Masdaf General Manager Vahdettin YIRTMAÇ tells that 30% of the energy consumed in buildings and industrial facilities are consumed by pumps. YIRTMAÇ: “With the “innovative and IoT pump technologies”, we aim to provide energy saving to our business partners’ establishments. In the last ten years, energy consumption has increased by 18.8% - 16.4% in the European Union and the OECD countries. This rate is around 31.2% in our country. These rates show that the effective usage of energy is not carried out in our country. Effective use of energy starts in the design stage of the structure and covers many areas, from the right choice of equipment such as pumps, air-conditioning systems. In order to provide energy efficiency in buildings, the “energy-efficient building design regulations and standards must be complied with. In the effective use of energy, correct selection of device and the “IoT” (internet of things) compatibility of the selected device possesses great importance in the effective management of energy. The developments in digital technology helps end users to manage electrical, hydraulic and mechanical power safely and efficiently. The rapid growth of smart devices in the industry and the reducing costs of information processing have become the most important elements supporting these developments.
The ‘smart’ concept transformations in the industry has impacted the basic change concept in pumps and direct the producers towards the systems that will make pumps ‘smart’. Today, we are in a world with high-tech products more than ever. Closely tracking and implementing the developments in the world also reduces the effort made in the world trade. Today, we are carrying out activities in a market in which domestic pump producers are members of trade associations collaborating in global projects. Assuming that “smart pump” market will reach USD 880 Million until 2021, it is inevitable that pumps will become active participants for smart systems and become a part of the developments in digital technologies rather than being a part of the production process. Accordingly, the fact that end users focus on the performance of the system indicates that pumps on the market will become more efficient as one of the effects of “Smart Pump” systems. The raising awareness on the energy consumption and pump systems will help end users select the most efficient pump for their applications. Accordingly, the institutions equipped with detailed systems and possessing the skills to collect and spread data and a strong analysis skills will be able to decrease energy costs and make sure that they are sustainable. “In the “smart pump” concept, IoT technologies aim to increase energy efficiency and to control the system via smart sensors and eliminate the problems without interrupting the system by tracking the pump applications closely. The smart solutions used in pump industry collect and analyse data continuously by using the sensors connected to the internet in order to optimise the power usage and continuity. Therefore it reports to the operator regarding the system and ensures that any damage to the system can be prevented. The defects that may occur in the system are detected before it arises thanks to the maintenance warnings and damage is prevented in case of possible breakdowns of the business.
Highlighting that the pumps used for an extended period may cause structural damage and may cause wear and tear in components, YIRTMAÇ has said that: “In order to ensure that pumps are operated efficiently, periodical maintenance and repair must be done. One of the biggest challenges for a pump distributor is after sales services. In order to determine the issues in pumps and to carry out the repair in the shortest period possible, it is possible to make “predictive maintenance” with IoT technologies. Thanks to predictive maintenance, the status of the equipment can be monitored and measures can be taken by evaluating their likelihood of being defected. Thus, unexpected defects will not cause production losses and the costly maintenance and repair expenses are prevented. Additionally, with the data obtained from the system, the overall vibration speed of the pumps, temperature, how it is used and when or why pumps operate outside expected conditions, in short, their performance can be analysed. Pump producers can use this data to develop more reliable pumps and to understand the needs of the market”. Emphasising that Masdaf aims for 100% customer satisfaction with innovative pump technologies and high service quality, YIRTMAÇ said that: “We owe Masdaf’s sustainable growth to technology and engineering solutions that ensure high customer satisfaction. IoT is also in the projects we have initiated in order to achieve high customer satisfaction. Therefore, we will be able to monitor the customer experiences and to develop our pump technologies in line with the expectations of our customers. IoT will both increase the life quality of our customers and the operational efficiency of businesses”.
