Growing population and reducing agricultural areas feature “smart aqua solutions” that will increase agricultural productivity.
Masdaf aims to improve agricultural productivity and to preserve water resources that are vital to a sustainable life with its “smart pump technologies” that provide clean water to agricultural lands
According to the results of the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) survey, Turkey’s population is expected to reach 84 million by 2023. Demand for food products is also expected to rise in parallel with the growing population. However, data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT) and the Social Security Institution (SSI) indicate that the number of farmers in Turkey has decreased by 48% in the last 12 years, while agricultural land has reduced by 12.3% in the last 18 years.
Turkey whose 30.8% of its land size is formed by agricultural land is among the countries with a great wealth of agricultural production potential. The use of smart technologies that will increase agricultural production and productivity is essential to adequately utilize this potential and meet the food needs of the growing population.
The surface of greenhouses that increase agricultural production and productivity with drip irrigation systems and smart technologies, which are widely used in agricultural lands in Turkey, is rising each year. Masdaf, the leading brand in the pump industry, continues to offer alternative solutions that will increase agricultural productivity with special types of pumps developed to meet the needs of agricultural lands and greenhouse areas.
Stating that the maximum productivity and optimum energy savings can be achieved by selecting the right pump in agricultural irrigation, Cem HANEDANOĞLU, Sales Manager of Masdaf, added, “When selecting the system, the temperature, specific weight, cleanliness of the water to be pumped, the pump flow rate, geometry of the system, accessibility to the water source, suction conditions and the location where the plant will be installed is of great significance. The system selection based on all these criteria saves energy and water resources as well as maintenance costs. At this point, we prioritize the distance of agricultural areas from the water source. For instance; if there are constant water sources near the land, such as ponds, dams, rivers, lakes and brooks, according to the condition of the land and installation, we supply water with “horizontal centrifugal pump with end suction or split double suction, high-pressure horizontal or vertical level centrifugal pumps or self-suction pumps” at suitable flow rate and pressure values in the first distribution network. We recommend self-suction mobile units that mainly operate on diesel or gasoline engines for irrigation of small lands where electricity cannot be supplied.
One of the most preferred systems for water supply on irrigation is “groundwater.” We offer our “BRX Series Borehole Pumps” to extract groundwater out of the ground or water line. The Borehole Pumps that provide great convenience and comfort in operation require no maintenance, cause no noise and vibration as they operate under water, thus provide a comfortable working environment. As pump and motor are located at inaccessible conditions, there are no human errors in the system.”
