Stop Water Waste with the Right Water Supply!

Water shortage due to the climate crisis, rising population and unconscious consumption of water endanger 40% of the world’s population. According to a report by the World Natural Resources Institute (WRI), Turkey ranks 32nd among countries suffering from water shortages.

On 22 March, World Water Day, Vahdettin YIRTMAÇ, the General Manager of Masdaf, stated, “We are on our way to becoming a “water-poor” country with a growing population and decreasing water reserves. Considering these consequences, we must use our water supplies with the awareness that there is no infinite resource. By preferring smart pump technologies to provide water for a sustainable life, we need to avoid waste of energy and water in buildings, businesses and agriculture.”

40% of the world’s population come across a water shortage due to climate change, rising population and unconscious consumption of water in industry, homes and agriculture.

According to a report by the “World Natural Resources Institute (WRI)”, Turkey ranks 32nd among countries suffering from water shortages. It is considered to be a country with a “water shortage” with 1,519 m³ of water per capita. The Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) estimates that by 2030 the Turkish population will exceed 100 million. In this case, the water amount per capita is expected to be 1,120 m3/year. Briefly, Turkey is on the way to become a “water-poor” country with a growing population and decreasing water reserves.

It is predicted that 2 billion people will suffer from water shortage in 2025

On 22 March, World Water Day, Vahdettin YIRTMAÇ, the General Manager of Masdaf, stated, “30% of the world’s population has been struggling with insufficient water supply. The growing population, climate crisis, unconscious consumption and technologies that use water resources inefficiently are expected to cause 2 billion people to suffer from water shortages in 2025. Considering these consequences, we must use our water supplies with the awareness that there is no infinite resource.”

We avoid water loss and leakage

We use 71% of our freshwater resources in agricultural irrigation, 18% in industry and 11% in households, which represent 3% of the world’s water resources in total. By preferring smart pump technologies to provide water for a sustainable life, we can avoid energy and water waste in buildings, businesses and agriculture. As Masdaf, with our smart water pump technology, we play an active role in fighting the water shortage that threatens our lives. Particularly, we take actions to avert the global water crisis with our “water conditioning systems” developed for households, industries, hospitals, schools and agricultural irrigation. As well as avoiding water loss and leakage, we also preserve our energy supplies. Since pumps consume 22% of the power used by electric motors in the world. For this purpose, it is important to choose the correct pump and to ensure that the system operates with high efficiency by periodically maintaining current pumps to save energy used in buildings and industrial facilities.”

50% water savings by using greywater

Focusing on using ‘grey water’ in the fight against water crises, YIRTMAÇ said, “The transfer and distribution of raw water through pump technologies and the effective and efficient management of wastewater generated after use are also vital for the ecosystem and therefore for our future. it is possible to save up to 50% of the water used in homes and offices through treatment systems that are developed for efficient use of chemical and wastewater, not containing stool, from a household, i.e. from the shower, bathtub, washbasin, kitchen, dishwasher and washer, other than black water (toilet water), which we call “grey water”. Nearly 26% of the water consumed in households is used in toilets, 22% in washing machines, 17% in showers, and 16% in taps and these domestic wastewaters make up 50% of the grey waters. We manufacture smart pumps for the re-pressurization of water in grey water recovery systems. Expert treatment firms prefer our Hexa series pumps of vertical-shaft, complete stainless steel. We offer ideal solutions for grey water recovery systems with our eco-friendly and smart HEXA series of pumps that we have developed for effective and efficient use of water.”

50% More Efficient Systems in Agricultural Irrigation

Stating that 71% of the fresh water in the world is used in agricultural irrigation YIRTMAÇ said that as Masdaf, they offered alternative solutions for smart pump technologies that would increase agricultural production and efficiency and played an active role in the fight against the water crisis. “Water management systems for agricultural irrigation allow 50 % more effective use of our water supply and save energy. However, it is essential to select the correct pump to achieve this efficiency. When selecting the system, it is necessary to accurately analyse the temperature, specific weight, cleanliness of the water to be pumped, the pump flow rate, geometry of the system, accessibility to the water source, suction conditions and the location where the plant will be installed. The system selection based on all these criteria saves energy and water resources as well as maintenance costs.”
